Shotokan is a style of karate. Developed by Gichin Funakoshi and his son Gigo Funakoshi. Shotokan name was never given by gichin funakoshi. He always calls karate as karate only. After years of study in both styles, Funakoshi created a simpler system that combined the ideas of the two . He called it karate (which we knew now as shotokan karate). In 1924, Funakoshi adopted the Kyū / Dan rank system and the uniform (keikogi) developed by Kano Jigoro, the founder of judo. This system uses colored belts (obi) to indicate rank. Is only one move enough to win championship?

"One move trained enough can make you win in local championship but in world championship you have to make yourself perfect. " Even in local championship what if your opponent is some excellent player ?  Suppose you have perfected one move that is mawashi geri.  What if your opponent  has very strong blocking power and he/she doesn't let you hit any attack .  Along with attacks making blocking strong   is very essential.. if you have strong blocking power even a good kumite player can not win in-front of you. If you have strong blocking power along with one perfectly learned attack you can win the fight in championship The only one thing you want to make strong for kumite then "Make blocking Power Strong"    (In Picture Haya Jumaa- World Champion)

What to do when someone speaks badly about karate?

When someone insults our Martial Art we all felt like kicking them off as descripted in picture. Firstly when someone insults our art ignore such 'cheap' people . We have hell lot of usefull things other then answering those people. But their is a limit till which we should bear such people. If they are continuously insulting our art beyond extend after such ignorance,  we need to answer them smartly. Tackle such people smartly by words. Not by using our moves on them . By using moves on a non karateka we are lowering our standard. Smartly tackle means challenge them for any karate stance. Ask them to sit in any stance for 5 mins. Or challenge them with the skills which you are expert in . By doing soo it will shut their mouth off permanently. Ps: Don't take above pic seriously it's just for fun

KIHON IN KARATE

Kihon ( 基本 , きほん) is a Japanese term. It means "basics" or "fundamentals." It is used to refer to the basic techniques that are taught and practiced as the foundation of most Japanese martial arts. In Karate Kihon includes blocks, strikes, punches, chops, kicks, and stances. What will a person do by learning such incomplete karate where his basics are not strong? Kihon is necessary to be mastered because without perfection in basics their is no point of learning karate. Basics has to be made perfect. Perfection in basics will improve your kata and kumite. And if your basics are strong enough one attack for self defense is enough. Their is belief that kihon should be practice only for few counts. No this is wrong . Kihon should be performed until perfection is achieved. Practice but in correct way!!!
